ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A dangerous intersection in Acree may soon get a traffic signal to alert people of the hazard there.   There were two motorcycle crashes this summer at County Line road and Highway 82.   One motorcyclist died.   The other was seriously injured.

There have been quite a few other dangerous wrecks there.   The Department of Transportation agrees the intersection could use a traffic signal, but there's no money to pay for it. Instead, the DOT may install an advanced warning system, like this one at Nelms Road and Highway 19.

Then, in about three years when the money is available, a traffic signal can be installed.  Commissioner Jack Stone said, "It's just really crowded right there in that area.  It's a very dangerous, dangerous situation and I hope this will probably get something done about it."

The county commission will vote next week to send a letter to the state requesting them to install the advanced warning system.
