ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A Dougherty District Attorney investigator earned a prestigious award for his work combating gang violence.
Jason Armstrong recently traveled to Chicago to accept the Frederic Milton Thrasher Award from the National Gang Crime Research Center.
Only four officers in the country were recognized for superior leadership, service, and contributions to public safety.
"It's truly an honor, the things that we're doing here other people have taken notice and are trying to copy from us including cities that are four times our size," Jason Armstrong, Dougherty District Attorney Investigator.
Armstrong wrote an article called "Gangs in Southwest Georgia" and taught a class on gangs and the success of the DA's Organized Crime Prosecution Unit.
In 2009 Armstrong was named officer of the year by the Georgia Sheriff's and Police Intelligence Unit.
