ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The director of the Albany Symphony is now working to help lead the Music Hall of Fame in a new direction.  Claire Fox Hillard has been appointed by Governor Sonny Perdue to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Authority.

The hall of fame is located in Macon.  Hillard says it's not only under utilized, it's under appreciated.

He says there is a rich heritage of musical talent in Georgia that more people should know about. And he looks forward to spreading that message.

Hillard said, "There's not only a great heritage, but a diverse heritage.  Everything from the Blues and Jazz and Rock to classical music and everything in between, so I think we need to, like with any organization, make sure that we let everyone know what's available and that this wonderful facility is in Macon.

Hillard is the music director for the Albany Symphony Orchestra and is also a member of the music faculty at Darton College.
