City names best qualified Downtown Manager candidate

September 10, 2010 – D. Aaron Blair from Naples, Florida, has emerged as the best qualified candidate for the Albany Downtown Manager position, Albany City Manager Alfred Lott announced today.  Manager Lott also named John Lampl, of Morrow, Georgia as the second qualified candidate.

Mr. Blair currently serves as Executive Director/Project Manager for Living World Family Church, starting in 2005.  In this capacity, he is providing project development and project management services for a $14,500,000 church campus project.  He manages a staff of 16 for a church congregation of 1,100. 

 Prior to that, he served Collier County Florida from 1999 -2005 as Urban Design Planner, Senior Planner – Comprehensive Planning, and finally as Executive Director for the Collier County Community Reinvestment Agency.  He has earned a Bachelor of Urban Design degree from the University of Cincinnati.

Mr. Lampl currently is independent business owner of Cuff Linx in Morrow, Georgia.  Prior to that, he served as City Manager of Morrow, Georgia from 1998 to July 2009.  He also served Morrow in the capacity of Executive Director and Economic Developer for the Morrow Downtown Development Authority from 2006 to March 2010.  He holds an Executive MBA from Georgia State University, and a Bachelors of Business Administration from Georgia State University.

The City is providing public notice of Mr. Lott's decision on the best qualified candidates in compliance with Georgia's open records law. At least 14 days must now pass before there is final action on selecting the Downtown Manager.
