BLAKELY - An Early County Grand Jury indicted former Blakely City Clerk Sterling Jones and Councilman Al Hutchins Friday.

Jones allegedly collected $5,000 for vacation time that he added to his personnel record. He was charged with two counts of making false statements and five counts of theft by taking.

Councilman Hutchins allegedly received more than $11,000 in insurance coverage meant for other city employees. Both men are being held on a $10,000 bond.

The Sheriff and Mayor were also under investigation but were not indicted for a lack of evidence.
