Douglas- Tecumseh Products company in Douglas laid off 80 of its employees Friday.

Back in April, plant officials announced the operation would close its doors and set up shop overseas.

Tecumseh is the world's second biggest maker of engines for walk-behind lawn mowers. Closing it's Douglas operation will leave 550 workers without jobs.

More than 300 additional employees will be laid off at the end of the month.
