ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Albany's Mayor is sick of hearing about repeat drug offenders in the city, and he wants them kicked out of town.

Dozens of people are arrested in Albany each month for drug related offenses.  Drug unit commander Bill Berry told the city commission this morning that many of them are the same people they've arrested before.

Mayor Willie Adams says if they're able to get out of jail, they should also get out of Dougherty County.  He is sending a letter to the District Attorney asking him to seek banishment as a condition of probation and parole for repeat violators.

Mayor Adams said, "The same people are doing it over and over again coming back to this community, so what we're hoping that our judges will see fit to attach banishment as part of their parole process, 'cause we don't need the few people that cause us 90% of our problems."

Last month, 42 people were arrested in Albany for drug related offenses, and drug agents seized more than $200,000 worth of drugs.
