ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  While several statewide candidates campaigned in Albany, local Democrats made sure those eligible are registered to vote in November.

Local Democrats held a voter registration drive today in downtown Albany. Democrats say it's more important than ever for communities to make their voices hear, especially at the ballot box. Local candidates say statewide issues including Georgia's budget are affecting local communities, especially the schools.

"Over the last three years we lost over 20 million dollars and I just feel like that's a lot, we're talking about furloughs, we're talking about, we're talking about a short, short, short year, where we had going 180 days, now we're talking 177," said Milton "Junebug" Griffin, Dougherty County School Board Candidate.

Those who want to register to vote in the November General Election must register before October 4th with their local election office.
