ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Fewer Americans were expected to travel far away from home this Labor Day weekend. We caught up with people who are spending their vacation right here in town.

Families were grilling out at Chehaw park and kids were enjoying the playground and everything else Chehaw has to offer.

Cox landing on Philema road was packed today as people enjoy a beautiful afternoon on the Flint River. Families we spoke to say Albany's attractions are affordable and entertaining for the whole family.

I decided to bring my family out here because it has a great scenery," said park visitor, Michael Day. "I work hard for this and I want to put a smile on their faces. I want to show my kids and my wife a good time at the park."

Dining, shopping and visiting relatives and friends were the three planned activities most frequently mentioned by travelers surveyed in triple "A" poll.
