ALBANY, GA (WALB) –   A warning to South Georgia businesses... especially music stores. Police say a scam artist is targeting them.

Dougherty County Police issued arrest warrants for 43-year-old Michael Murray for fraud and theft.  Investigators say he has ripped off at least four stores in Dougherty and Lee Counties, including two music stores.

They say he used checks from a closed account from a bank in Franklin, Tennessee to buy expensive equipment which he then quickly pawned for cash.

"We want to warn businesses to be on the lookout for this individual. If anybody sees him, please don't take a check from him," said DCP Captain Jimmy Sexton.

Dougherty County Police] Police say Murray is often accompanied by his wife Catherine, though she is not charged with a crime.

If you have any information about Murray, call Dougherty County Police at 430-6600.
