Albany restaurants fight hunger

June 5, 2003

Albany -- Albany restaurants and diners pitch in to help fight hunger in South Georgia. This is National Hunger Awareness Day.

Many restaurants, like White's Family Seafood and Old Fashion Bar-B-Que, pledged to give 10 to 15 percent of their sales Thursday to the Food Bank.

Bill White said he knows hunger is a problem in Southwest Georgia. "Yes, it definitely is. You have a lot of people going hungry. I'm not saying everybody is hungry, but there is a lot of them that is hungry."

White said his donation should be around 300 dollars. The Food Bank of Southwest Georgia provides food to those in need in 14 counties.
