DECATUR COUNTY, GA (WALB) –For the eighth time this year, someone set fire to a house in Decatur County's Black Jack community.

Yesterday afternoon, a couple visiting a rental house on Bud Harrell Road noticed smoke coming out of a laundry room.

They called 911 and then called the homeowner who just purchased the house 11-days ago.

Firefighters put out the blaze just before it reached the main electrical unit to the house.

"Makes me feel more optimistic since they were able to respond quickly and do an investigation shortly after it occurred," says homeowner Elwood Ward. "I think the quicker that happens the better the evidence and more likely they'll apprehend the arsonists."

The latest arson happened just next-door to another house damaged twice by arson.

A 10-thousand dollar reward is still being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the Black Jack arsons. You can call (229) 400-8006 with information.
