ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Deerfield-Windsor pole vaulter Reed Hancock has received a heroes welcome at school this week.Hancock returned to Albany over the weekend from the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore where she represented the United States in the pole vault.

The nerves in the international competition showed for Reed in the prelims when she failed to clear the first height.

The GISA state champ regrouped and achieved her main goal by clearing her first height using her heaviest pole in the Group B finals.

Reed says she also had a great time in working with her USA teammates and representing her country in the international competition.

Reed Hancock said "It was just a lot of fun being out there and being able to experience all the little kids looking up to you. People wanting to take pictures of you because you have USA on your chest.
