ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Albany Police Department Media Manager Phyllis Banks Whitley was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with battery.

Dougherty County Police says Banks Whitley threw a shoe at her teenaged daughter during an argument.

Police say the 16 year old girl was mad because her mother would not let her go to a football game, and when she refused to leave her mother's bedroom, Banks-Whitley threw a show at her, which hit her foot.

Police say the 16 year old then started fighting with her mother.

Banks-Whitley told her 18 year old daughter to call police.

Police say Banks-Whitley had visible scratches and the teen had an abrasion on her forehead

Banks-Whitley was taken to jail and released on $2,000 bond the next day.

She remains on the job at APD.
