ATHENS, GA (WALB) - New Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity is wasting no time getting to work.
McGarity's first official day is Wednesday but he has already been on the job for about a week.
McGarity returning to Athens after working the past 18 years at the University of Florida. McGarity says he plans to discuss scheduling with football coach Mark Richt and basketball coach Mark Fox. In fact, McGarity is planning fact finding meetings with all of his staff
Greg McGarity said. "I think the role of an athletic director is to be a facilitator. What can we do? What can our office do to help you be the best you can be regardless of what role that person plays on our staff."
McGarity succeeds Damon Evans who resigned in early July after his arrest on DUI charges in Atlanta on June 30th.
