Moultrie-- A man found guilty of 10 counts of child molestation tries to commit suicide in the courtroom.
Thirty-six-year-old Gary Dewayne Bivins of Funston was found guilty Tuesday of four counts of aggravated child molestation, and six counts of child molestation.
After the verdict was read, Bivins swallowed pills form a bottle, but bailiffs got him to spit them out. He was treated and released from the hospital.
Bivins was out on bond prior to the trial. Bivins was convicted of molesting a six and eight-year-old girl numerous times during 2001 and 2002. The girls were at their grandmother's house in Moultrie. Bivins was married to their grandmother.
