ALBANY, GA (WALB) –MCLB Albany is prepping just in case they have to house any Marines evacuated because of hurricane danger.

MCLB Albany is staying in contact with Parris Island as Hurricane Earl churns through the Atlantic.

MCLB is checking equipment and facilities in case Marines from other bases end up here.

Base Deputy Director for Operations and Training Bob James said "Right now it's on the east coast. Earlier in the year there was some in the Gulf, and we were talking to those installations such as Pensacola. Just to make sure we are talking and communicating and ready to respond if we need to."

During Hurricane Katrina, six thousand evacuees from the Pensacola Naval Air Station were housed in temporary quarters set up at MCLB Albany.
