TIFT COUNTY, GA (WALB) – A Tift County boy who suffers from a rare debilitating neurological disorder needs your help to get potentially lifesaving treatment.

4 years ago, 11-year-old Lottyn Bates was diagnosed with Giant Axonal Neuropathy.  It's similar to Lou Gehrig's disease and MS.

It takes away the use arms, legs and vocal chords and affects fewer than 20 people in the country.

An organization called Hannah's Hope helps those patients.  It's currently in first place in a competition to win $250 thousand through the Pepsi Refresh project.

"All working towards a clinical trial for our kids which is set to begin in 2011. So, in three years we've went from your son has this, there's no cure, there's no treatment, there's nothing we can do, to hope. Somebody at least saying we're going to try to help you," said Magaen Bates.

To help Lottyn and Hannah's Hope, you can vote online or send in a text vote.  Voting ends Tuesday at midnight.

To text a vote:  Text 101885 to Pepsi (73774).
