The VSU football team got a chance to escape the rigors of fall practice for a few hours Saturday morning in Valdosta.
The team held its annual "Meet the Blazer day". Around 400 football hungry kids attended the event. The community took advantage of the chance to see their favorite Blazer up close and personal.
Players also held mini-training sessions with the youngsters teaching them the football basics and while today was all smiles head coach David Dean also had his eyes set on next week's game versus Wingate.
Dean said, "We're starting to formulate our game plan. Today after this is over we're giving them the rest of the day off. We'll come in tomorrow and start watching Wingate film, put a practice together and start gearing up for the game next Saturday"
Wingate was in action Saturday night and beat West Georgia 10-7 in Carrollton.
