ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Georgians may no longer be able to park their vehicles at any state park for free on Wednesdays. The Department of Natural Resources will debate soon whether that will happen.

Right now park visitors do not have to pay a $5 parking fee on Wednesdays, but DNR wants to see this change as soon as February because of state budget cuts.

It would add about $400,000 to the $3.8 million dollars in yearly parking revenue for maintaining state parks and historic sites.

The DNR board will consider the change at an October 27th meeting in Savannah.
