AMERICUS, GA (WALB) – A jury handed down a guilty verdict against man charged in a 2007 killing.

On Saturday a Judge sentenced Johnny Ray Cochran to life plus five years. Investigators say Cochran shot 47-year-old Melony Strickland to death at her mobile home off Middle River Road in August 2007.

Jurors found him guilty on all four counts of Murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and having a firearm during the commission of a crime.

During the trial jurors learned she was shot in the throat, head, chest, and arms. Cochran was a truck driver and had dated Strickland.
