Albany-- The first shovels of dirt are tossed as construction on the new Albany law enforcement center begins. The city broke ground on the $14.5 million policing center Tuesday.

The 73,000 square foot building will house the Albany Police Department, now crowded into the basement of the courthouse.

"In our current location, we do not have a computer access in every office. That will change thanks to better technology in the new building," said Assistant APD Chief Bob Boren.

Construction on the law enforcement center should be complete by next summer.
