Packers, Panthers advance in playoffs

June 2, 2003

Colquitt County's Aaron Eubanks pitched a complete game and went 3 for 3 at the plate in leading the Packers to 11-4 win over Colquitt County in the first game of their AAAAA semifinal baseball series in Moultrie.

After the Packers jumped out to a 4-0 lead, the Tigers had moved to within one run when Eubanks-a Clemson signee- hit a two-run homerun in the fifth inning.

The Packers rode another strong pitching performance from Cody Green to win game two 7-5.

Max Demott got the Packers on the board with a long solo homerun to lead off the 2nd inning.

Brandon Connell singled in Isaac Jackson with the Packers second run of the game in what turned out to be a three run 4th inning.

The Packers added three more runs in the 5th with Connell driving in one of those runs with his third hit of the game.

The Tigers made things interesting with a three run homerun in the bottom of the 7th before the Packers got the final out.

Colquitt County will host East Coweta in the AAAAA finals Friday in Moultrie.

In Class-A, 2nd ranked Clinch County remains unbeaten in the postseason with a 4-3, 15-5 wins over McIntosh County Academy Monday afternoon in Homerville.

Panther ace Rhett Barber struck out 11 batters in game one which Georgia signee Rance Morgan hit a solo homerun.

Clinch County will be on the road in the Class-A finals.  They just don't know where since the Bremen and Glascock County will play game three of their series Tuesday afternoon.
