ALBANY, GA (WALB) – As south Georgians hold onto their money pretty tightly during the down economy, it's been hard for some shows at the Albany Civic Center to succeed.

But some local promoters say they've got the right entertainment at the right price.

Young buck enterprise production is hosting our first Southern Funk Fest at the Albany Civic Center Labor Day Weekend. General admission is $25.

In the recent past the Ricky Smiley and Friends show had to be canceled because of poor ticket sales.

Organizers say they want to bring a quality show to Albany people will support. Lakeside, cameo, and Morris Day and Times are scheduled to perform.

"we spend an hour going back and forth deciding what we'll charge," said Sonja Brown, Young Buck$ Enterprise.

The Steve Harvey Show, Tyler Perry's plays, and Disney Live have had success at the Civic Center

In 2009 total attendance at the civic center and Municipal Auditorium was right at 140,000.

Convention and Visitors officials say those people had a 7.2-million dollar economic impact on the city.
