UGA's Williams excited about move to strong safety

ATHENS, GA (WALB) - Georgia safety Nick Williams is excited about the Bulldogs new 3-4 defense.The former Bainbridge High product is battling for the starting strong safety job during camp.


Williams is also excited about moving back to safety after seeing action at linebacker in his first two seasons.

If Nick earns the starting job, he will be paired with free safety Baccari Rambo from Donalsonville.

The two teammates from southwest Georgia are also best of friends and Williams believes it will help their play in the secondary.

Nick Williams said. "Oh I love it. I am at strong safety. I am filling the run alot. I have got (Baccari) Rambo on the other side. he is covering me. doing a lot of coverage stuff. It is perfect for our talent. based around our talent."

Georgia opens the season September 4th against Louisiana-Lafayette at Sanford Stadium.

WALB will carry the Georgia/Louisiana Lafayette game starting at 12:00 p.m..
