ALBANY, GA (WALB) -The American Red Cross put out an urgent call for blood donors.
Donations typically dip during summer vacation season. There were people giving when we stopped by the donor center on Dawson Road in Albany Monday.
All blood types are needed, but "O" negative is especially important because it can be given to people of any blood type.
"We need all blood types," said Blood Services Recruiter, Susann McNair. "If you can come out and donate, that's awesome. "O" negative donors can make the difference between an adequate blood supply and a shortage."
Operating hours of the Donation Center on 1515 Dawson Road include:
Monday and Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
If you'd like to make an appointment, call 1-800-Red-Cross.
