FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) -

FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) – The Georgia High School Association is punishing two south Georgia high schools involved in a brawl after a football scrimmage a week ago.

The GHSA fined Fitzgerald and Wilcox County High Schools $250 each, banned them from having football scrimmage games next year, and put them on "severe warning status." That means any future sportsmanship violation will result in stiffer penalties.

This all comes after fights broke out on the field in Fitzgerald after coaches from the two schools argued following last Friday night's pre-season game.  No coaches or players were suspended because GHSA officials said they could not find proof of who was actually involved in the fights.
