News release from the Georgia Power Co.

ALBANY, GA - The Drawdown Starts Tuesday September 7, and refilling begins Friday October 1, 2010.

Lake Worth will be lowered approximately 8 feet. Some fluctuations may occur on a daily basis due to power generation, rainfall, etc.

Equipment and materials should not be left in the lakebed unattended.

The purpose for the drawdown is for scheduled maintenance on the Flint River Hydro Dam.

Before any work is to begin along the shoreline, plans must be submitted to Georgia Power Company for approval. To receive a construction permit for new structures or for maintenance of existing structures, a completed construction application form must be submitted, along with plans, to Georgia Power for review and approval.

For a construction application or other permit information, please contact me at 706-317-6043.

Also, residents planning to build a new seawall will need to complete a Buffer Disturbance Request form that must be approved by your local county issuing authority before a permit will be issued by Georgia Power.

If you have any questions concerning the drawdown, please call me at die numbers above or call our office at 706-322-0228.
