ALBANY, GA (WALB) - It is only a preseason scrimmage but the Lee County Trojans are wanting to send a message they are on the way back.
Lee County scored 18 first quarter points and held on to beat Monroe 45-30 Thursday at Hugh Mills Stadium.
The Trojans marched 78 yards in five plays on their first drive.
It ended with Justin Walker throwing a 13 yard touchdown pass to James Terrell.
After Lee County recovered an onsides kick, Walker threw a 50 yard touchdown pass to Sanford Seay.
The two point conversion made it 15-0.
Monroe got untracked late in the first quarter with Detravious Lane's 58 yards to the Lee County nine yard line.
Quarterback Devine Noel scored on the next play for the Trojans first touchdown.
Monroe will open the regular season next Friday at Terrell County.
Lee County will host Baconton Charter next week in the Trojans season opener.
