THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) –A man narrowly escaped injury after a brick was thrown from a passing car into his windshield Wednesday night.
At around 11:30, former police officer Joel Grimm was driving west on Summerhill Road in Thomas County when a brick was thrown out of a passing Toyota Rav4.
21-year old Courtney Palmer, 18-year olds Corey Powell and Brandon Swearingen, 19-year old Spencer Vance and a 15-year old are all charged with aggravated assault.
Both cars were traveling at least 45 miles-per-hour when the brick hit Grimm's windshield.
"It actually hit his windshield and shattered it," says Lt. Steven Jones of the Thomas County Sheriff's Office. "So he's lucky he didn't have any glass issues with that and he's very fortunate he didn't wreck."
Grimm was able to call 9-1-1 as he turned around and chased the suspects.
Officers say the kids threw the brick as a prank.
Additional charges are pending in related incidents.
