(Atlanta-AP) -- Officials say they are tired of losing money at the arcade across from Turner Field and are considering selling it or leasing it to a private company. The government-owned complex called Fanplex was built a year ago with $2.5 million in tax dollars.
It continues to lose money including nearly $30,000 this year. The group that operates the center the Atlanta and Fulton County Recreation Authority, reported the loss during a public meeting Thursday. Fulton County Commissioner Nancy Boxill is the authority's vice chairwoman. She says officials are not going to allow the losses to continue.
Authority members plan to consider whether a private company should lease or buy the property and will obtain an appraisal. They will present their findings at a meeting June 25th.
