ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Lee County leaders say Publix is a catalyst for much of the other growth in that area.

The parking lot at Publix in Lee Crossings was filled not just for the store opening Wednesday, but all day long. And soon, other new businesses will be attracting customers.

A new CVS pharmacy is under construction across the street.

Winston Oxford, Lee County Economic Development Director, says that Heritage Bank is holding a groundbreaking Thursday in that same area and several restaurants are also interested in opening up.
