Lowndes County - A man accused of robbing and shooting an Atlanta man leads South Georgia deputies on a high speed chase.
When a Lowndes County deputy tried to pull over 22-year-old Lashon Williams of Daytona Beach for speeding on I-75, Williams got off on Exit 16 and headed toward Quitman. A chase ensued, and Williams finally crashed into a steel post on Highway 84.
Deputies found the wallet of the shooting victim and a .38 caliber revolver in Williams' truck.
"From Quitman on, he was driving on the wrong side of the vehicle and several patrol units were tailing him," said Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk. "He never slowed down until he got to a road block in Thomasville and ended up swerving and crashing."
Williams is being held in the Lowndes County Jail. The shooting victim hospitalized in Atlanta.
