A moment Baconton Charter School has waited years for will arrive on Friday night.

That is when the Blazers will play their first ever varsity football game.

Baconton Charter head coach Glen Palmer has been building this program with a j-v and middle school schedule over the last two years.

That has helped prepare a young Baconton roster with 14 to 15 freshmen and sophomores for varsity football.

The Blazers do have some talent with running backs James Davis, Sonny Irvin, J.B. Germany and Zach Faircloth. They will play a non-region schedule for their first two years of varsity competition.

Glen Palmer said "We tried to pick some other schools who are playing non-region schedules around the state to play. I feel like we if we can get a couple of W's that may mean more to our program, then trying to go after a playoff spot right now."

Baconton Charter plays their first varsity game Friday night at eight o'clock at Pelham.
