It is a huge blow for the Blazers with Callaway not only the top quarterback on their depth chart in camp but also one of their leaders.
Callaway suffered the injury during a rollout in Sunday's scrimmage.
He suffered a similar injury to the same knee at the end of spring practice in 2009.
Callaway worked hard during the summer and was back on the field last year in a back up role.
Head coach David Dean says the entire Blazer football team is hurting with the news because Russ is player everyone looked up to and respected.
With Callaway out, junior Jimmy Coy and redshirt freshman Brett Whitmire will battle for the starting job.
WALB News Ten sports reporter Shayne Wright is in Valdosta Tuesday and WALB will have more with Coach Dean on the WALB News Ten 6 o'clock Report.
