VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A Valdosta woman is recovering in the hospital after police say her boyfriend shot her in the head Saturday night.

Police say 26-year-old Isabell Abad and 29-year-old Francisco Hernandez were arguing around 10:00 p.m. when he pulled a gun and shot her.  EMS crews rushed Abad to South Georgia Medical Center.

Police brought a K-9 unit to search for Hernandez. They found him hiding near his home on Pendleton Avenue in south Valdosta.

He's in the Lowndes County Jail charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Officials say Abad's wound is not life threatening.
