ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A Republican activist is getting ready for the November election.

State representative hopeful Karen Kemp spoke to a group of young professionals in Albany.

She's challenging incumbent Winfred Dukes for the District 150 seat.

Kemp says her top priority is bringing jobs back to the district.

"Everyone talks about creating jobs and we can all agree that is an absolutely essential thing in southwest Georgia, but what we really have to do is focus on retention of our existing manufacturers and our existing businesses. We need to do everything we can to help the Marine Base expand and be successful. We have to be very aggressive about going out and seeking other opportunities," said Republican District 150 candidate Karen Kemp,

Kemp will hold a campaign kickoff August 16th at Throntaeeska Heritage Center.
