ALBANY, GA (WALB) –An Albany hardware store owner, shot in what Police believe was a revenge attack for firing an employee, was laid to rest Wednesday.
Prosecutors are still waiting for the final autopsy report to determine his cause of death.
A long funeral procession brought 67-year old Walter Phelps' body to Crown Hill Cemetery.
Phelps was shot July 3rd inside his store on North Slappey Boulevard and died Saturday.
Doctors told investigators they believe he died as a result of the bullet wound.
Prosecutors say they will upgrade charges to murder against Jordan Harris, the man charged with shooting Phelps, and perhaps two other suspects.
