ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Darton baseball coach Glenn Eames has found a new assistant coach and the man who is line to take over the Cavalier program Eames started 15 years ago.
Pierce County High baseball coach Greg Gay has accepted the Darton College baseball assistant coach job.
Greg Gay said. "You are talking about a guy that started Darton's program 14 years ago. That knows the ins and outs about this college about this area. It is going to be a tremendous opportunity to not be thrown in the fire but to ease into this thing."Coach Eames the new Darton locker facility should be completed soon and the team will be ready to move in before fall practice begins.
Glenn Eames said. "I feel very confident with the direction Greg would take this program if in fact he wants to continue on and we feel like it is the right fit."

In five seasons, Gay won two region titles and finished second in the region at Pierce County.
The Fitzgerald native became interested in the Cavalier job talking to Glenn Eames during a summer baseball tournament at Darton.
Eames is planning to step down in the next year or two to focus on his other duties at Darton and would like to train his new assistant to take over as the new Cavalier head coach.
