TIFTON, GA (WALB) - The Tift County Blue Devils are looking to get back into the state playoffs this season and may have the defense to do that.

Tift County has nine starters back on defense.

The Blue Devils return all four defensive linemen including ends Patrick Atwater and Brenard Williams along with linebackers Kevan Mays and Michael Watts.

The secondary will also be better with Terence Felton, Trevin Taylor and Gerald Pledger all returning.

The offense is where the work is needed with only one lineman and three receivers back.

Head coach Jay Walls says while the quarterback position lacks experience there is talent with junior Zach Manglesdorf, senior T.J. Cromer and freshman Toderick Jackson.

Jay W

alls said. "All three can run and throw. All three are picking up the offense well. We have just got to see who is going to respond when it is live bullets a real game situation.

Tift County opens the season at Fitzgerald on August 20th.
