BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

West Bainbridge Elementary School teacher Nancy Barineau was killed in a car wreck today.

Here is a statement by School Superintendent, Dr. Fred Rayfield:

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Nancy Barineau, a 1ST grade teacher at West Bainbridge Elementary, passed away this morning as result of a one car automobile accident.

Ms. Barineau was a veteran teacher of 23 years and had been with the Decatur County School System for 9 years.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Ms. Barineau as they continue to deal with this tragic loss. We will continue to lift her family, West Bainbridge Elementary faculty, staff, and students and the Decatur County School family up in our prayers as they deal with the days ahead.

We will pass any arrangements and details along as we receive them.

May God continue to bless each of during this difficult time.

I'm calling BPS/DCSO right now to see if we can get anymore information on what happened.
