ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Sherwood Christian enjoyed their first region title in school history last year.

The bad news for the improving Eagles is they face a bigger challenge this fall when the move back into the GISA's AAA classification.

Eagles head coach Reginald Mitchell also facing a tough challenging in replacing all-star running back Dontavious Brown.

Brown signed with Austin Peay.

Sherwood Christian still will have plenty of gamebreakers on their offense.

Senior quarterback Terrance Burnette returns and sophomore Brett Shepard will provide depth.

The backfield will also have plenty of candidates to succeed Brown.

They included Phillip English and Mack Green.

The line will be led by seniors Tomorrias Hicks, Darren Akins and tight end Chris Roberts.

Coach Mitchell knows all of these players and more will be needed for Sherwood Christian to compete for a region title in AAA this year.

Reginald Mitchell said. "It is going to be a tough road ahead of us but we feel confident the kids are ready. They have been working hard. They have been working hard all summer. Hopefully, it will pay off in the end."

The Eagles open the season at cross-town rival Deerfield-Windsor on August 27th.
