Bearcats reloading veer offense

By Robert Hydrick - bio | email

BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - Bainbridge High will depend heavily on defense this season while head coach Ed Pilcher rebuilds his veer option offense.

the Bearcats return all region defensive lineman Quatavious Middleton and defensive ack Shawn Samuels as well and linebackers Jemario Brown, Brandon Lindsey and Jared Price.

The Bearcats defense has an extra weapon in kicker Keegan Adams who is one of the best in the state.

The offense is young with the Bearcats thin in experience in the backfield and on the line.

Quarterback Rohan Gaines is back but the Bearcats would like to play Steve Bench under center.

That would allow Gaines to use his athletic ability at other positions like receiver and in the secondary.

Ed P

ilcher said. "It will be a two man rotation. If Steve can handle the pressure and do everything that needs to be done, then Steve will take the reins and we will leave Rohan over there. Early in the year we are going to do both."

Bainbridge will open the season at Early County on August 27th.
