Lee County, GA (WALB) – Publix is putting the final touches on their new store in Lee County. It should open in the next two weeks.

Workers' cars dot the parking lot as crews install shelves and move inventory inside the store. Construction on the store on Highway 19 near Forrester Parkway is two months ahead of schedule.

Publix is set to open on August 18th, but most other tenants in the plaza won't move in until October.

"Right now they're scheduled to open, to have their first full day of business August 18th, they've already received their certificate of occupancy from Lee County. Everything's pretty much complete in the Publix development, or at least in the Publix store and all they're doing right now is stocking it," said Lee County Economic Development Director Winston Oxford.

Sassy Nails will move in next to Publix, and a Hair Salon has also committed to the plaza.

Developers expect to see at least two restaurants and a bank on the property. The CVS across Highway 19 will likely open in January.
