ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Lee County Commissioners picked one finalist in their search for an interim county administrator.  Al Crace of Roswell is the interim county administrator.

Friday was Alan Ours' last day on the job. He took a job as Glynn County Administrator. The county must wait 14 days to hire Crace.

Commissioners were impressed with his 38 years experience and a recommendation from the Georgia Association of County Commissioners.

"With his experience and what he's been through this is really not a very difficult task for him to accomplish," said Lee County Commission Chairman Ed Duffy.

Crace owns a consulting firm and has worked as a city administrator in Athens, Gainesville, Rome, Waycross, and Alma.

Commissioners also voted to hire the Mercer Group to search for a permanent replacement.

That's the same group helping Albany search for a Downtown Manager.
