ALBANY, GA (WALB) – In a rare example of bi-partisanship, the U.S. Senate Thursday passed the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. It was co-authored by Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss.
The bill includes more than $3 billion to improve the nutritional quality of school meals. Chambliss says it will also expand after school meals and give more children access to healthy meals.
Right now, students eat more than 30 million lunches every day through the National School Lunch Program.
