THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) –Nathan Deal visited the Rose City this morning during his campaign tour.

The Republican gubernatorial candidate stopped by the Thomasville's new Republican headquarters grand opening before speaking to the public at the Plaza Restaurant.

Deal, the son of a agricultural teacher, says he realizes how a tough economy can impact a rural town and spoke about job creation.

He told the crowd that as governor, he'll remember all the small towns he's visited like Thomasville.

"Thomasville is a major city in this part of our state. It is a center for health delivery and I had the opportunity to visit the local hospital and I'm very impressed with what's going on there," Deal says.

"There's also the economic center of this part of the state. I've been very fascinated to see how diverse our state is during my campaign and every community has its own unique qualities."

Deal also pledged to continue running a clean campaign but accused his Republican run-off opponent Karen Handel of not doing the same.
