ALBANY, GA (WALB) – New surveillance video to show this afternoon of an early morning smash and grab where the thief went through a big ordeal for just a few packs of cigarettes.
Around 2:50 Thursday morning watch the bandit smash through the front window of the Albany Deli and Food Mart at the corner of South Westover and Oakridge with a hammer. He makes a big mess then jumps over the counter and heads straight for the Newport cigarettes.
He took a shelf of them from above the counter then ran out the way he came in only he tripped and fell out the hole during his exit.
Store owner Jolly Singh says this is the second time in the past year he's been broken into. Last time thieves took his ATM.
"I'm planning to put up the bars now that's the only thing coming to my mind. I want the bars on the front that's what I was thinking this morning. Maybe that will protect a little bit. But it costs money and everything you know," said Jolly Singh.
Here's the thief again, take a good look at him. He was wearing a camouflage shirt and bandana over his face but it comes down a bit as he's stealing the cigarettes.
