ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Westover head coach Octavia Jones has proven he is one of the best track coaches in the state.

Now he is ready to do the same in football.

The former Monroe and Albany State football star has been working hard to prepare for his first season as a head coach.

The new coach inherits a team that has seven starters back on defense but has questions on offense.

Senior Justin Taylor is the leader to win the quarterback job.

QB candidate Shaquille Roberts and Kenny Towns will lead the receiving corps while the Patriots have plenty of depth at running back.

Coach Jones wants to establish a running game.

Westover will have a solid line with Adrian Hill, Sam Newman and Deerfield-Windsor transfer Trent Brown blocking for a number of talented running backs.

Octavia Jones said. "We have about 3 or 4 guys in the backfield that can tote the load for us. It is probably going to be a situation where we are going to have someone who is going to be a different star for us at that position each week."

Westover opens the season on August 27th at Hugh Mills Stadium against Mitchell County.
