THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) –A south Georgia church is helping feed the hungry one box of groceries at a time.

Disciples of Jesus Ministries in Thomasville gives out free food every Tuesday. Organizers say food banks like Second Harvest of south Georgia donate the food that helps feed nearly 300 families a week.

Last month, they served a record number of people.

"So if you see, that's what's going on right now," says Shelia Tillman, the church's food bank director. "A whole bunch of them have been through already this morning, so we had to send someone out to restock so we could try and accommodate everyone."

For more information on the church food giveaway, or to make a donation, you can call them at (229) 228-7775.
